SONARANDA:

In essence, Sonaranda is like Mexico's meeting point for opening its heart and sending a message of love to the world.

Sonaranda is the song that keeps on sowing and moving on, walking toward new horizons. It is a bridge that spans the distance between traditional and new music proposals, styles, genres and sounds, rendered in the voice of Mexico’s present-day blood and soul.

Sonaranda is a journey through Mexico’s sonorous landscapes. It represents the son from the Huasteca region of Veracruz, Mexico, it is also has the flavor of the jarocho, calentano, planeco, istmeño music styles, as well as the waltz, bolero, clave…all of this with a fusion of Jazz, and academic music.

Sonaranda is the heart of Mexico in the guitar, violin, bass, jarana, and percussion instruments. It is a singing bird on the wing, as it creates its art enveloped by the sounds of our people.

The fusion of various musical languages has not been widely explored in Mexico. Sonaranda, which is quite a young group, has taken over this challenge.

The instruments played by this group represent the musical culture of Mexico, especially regarding percussions, which number over thirty instruments, the majority of which are of Native Indigenous origin, such as Tarahumara drums, water drums, drums made by the chontales, mixtecos, totonacos; rattles, scrapers, etc. – as well as the Arabian instrument called D’rbouka, the African Yembe and the Tibetan cymbal, among others.  The same versatility occurs in the guitar section with its many varieties: jarana jarocha and huasteca, the classic vihuela, guitarra de golpe, sirincho and the baroque guitar.

Sonaranda belongs to the concept of Mexican contemporary music. It can be heard in concert halls as well as in mass media events.
