ORQUESTRA POPULAR DE CÂMARA DE SÃO PAULO:
Orquestra Popular de Câmara was founded in 1998 in São Paulo by seven very respected musicians of Musica Popular Brasileira. They worked for people like Egberto Gismonti, Nana Vasconcelos, Zizi Possi, Chico César, Ivan Lins, Joyce and Doris Caymmi. Their group is an eclectic mixture of modern, traditional and traditional instruments: violoncello, violin, accordion, mandoline, saxophone and a great number of percussions and indigenous horns. In concert and on their Cd, they are often assisted discreetly by the song of Mônica Salmaso.
In addition to being a collective of virtuosos, this orchestra is also a group of type-setters and arrangers. In particular the pianist Benjamin Taubkin and the saxophonists Teco Cardoso and Mané Silveira which have their own compositions and which carry out an arrangement for other people. You do not wait impetuous music of the world. It is more about a series of instrumental excursions built starting from jazz, classical music, of worked nova, of samba, choro and other traditional musics of less known Brazil. Sometimes, the inspiration comes by far; on their first Cd, the arrangement of a song was made in Turkménistan in the town of Askhabad.
