Breabach, from Scotland, is one of the most celebrated and successful Celtic folk bands of recent times. The five musicians command the stage with flair, charisma and a sound as expansive as it's distinct. Powered by double bagpipes, flute and fiddle, this uncompromising force is further fueled by the tight groove of double bass, guitar and step-dance. Impeccable musicianship is combined with adaptability, thoughtful arrangements with the soulful delivery of songs. The repertoire effortlessly brings together traditional and contemporary, not only underlining the commitment and passion of the musicians for their heritage but also displaying their willingness to explore and challenge boundaries.
The band has played at many events in North America, including Edmonton Folk Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival and Vancouver Island Music Festival. In the summer of 2012 Breabach played at many major European gatherings , including the Radio 3 World Stage at WOMAD in England. A critically-acclaimed third album, Bann. appeared in Europe in March 2012, and is due for release in North America in late spring 2013.
