Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) began thousands of years ago as an Indigenous ceremony used to embrace death as a voyage to a higher level of consciousness. Ceremonial costume, art, and alters to departed loved ones abound, all featuring the ever-present skeleton figure, as this traditional expression of love and respect for the dead is the ultimate celebration of family and of Life.
This is Quetzal's modern-day celebration in song, dance, storytelling, and the building of traditional altars to the ancestors, honoring our loved ones and yours who have traveled to the afterlife.
