I MUVRINI:
How do you set off from a small island of 250,000 people... singing in its native tongue, rooted in the uniqueness of a culture... and open doors to the world...? How do you then become a voice, an anthem to the beauty, the richness, the diversity, and the peace of the world...? This is the path the Corsican group I Muvrini has followed in the most human way.
The group and its splendid voices have appeared on international stages from Montreal, to the U.S.A., to Johannesburg, where in the spring of 2004 the last album was recorded partly with Zulu choirs. They have collaborated with internationally renowned artists, from Sting, with whom Jean-François recorded the duet "Fields of Gold" in 1999, to Greece's beloved Haris Alexiou, with whom they recorded a CD in 2006.
The polyphonies, a cappella religious male choirs of incomparable beauty and deep emotion, were the basis of their fame. The voice of Jean-François Bernardini is warm and soft, while his brother Alain’s voice combines purity and formidable power. From tradition and innovation, I Muvrini has created a sound unique in world music, original and exquisite, establishing them as a standard in traditional vocal ensemble work.
They sing of their love for the island of Corsica, its paths and its stones, its threatened language and culture, but also of the progress along the road to universality, of people and lands, and ultimately their “dream of unity that puts people together and of diversity that enriches.”
