Vancouver World Music Collective, Silk Road Music, 01/01/01 >>
Silk Road Music has been touring and promoting cross-cultural music for 10 years. It has Chinese folk and classical spiced with Brazilian, jazz and world instruments to create one of the most exciting ensembles on the scene today.
Their debut CD "Endless" won the 1998 West Coast Music Awards Best Global Album and a year later was nominated for a Juno. They have been featured on VTV and CBC countless times and are always a popular favorite.
The project features twelve Chinese Folk songs translated into English, arranged for cross-cultural instrumentation, and performed in both English and Mandarin by duets of top Chinese and Non-Chinese singers. Silk Road Music's lineup for the concert will range from a trio to an eight piece band consisting of instrumental and vocal music.
